Cheap Omega J8006

Picture of the Omega J8006 masticating juicerCompared to vertical models like the Omega VRT350HD, the Omega J8006 starts to look pretty cheap. Coz of this, it does offer great value if you want to start using a masticating juicer. It’s about 100 bucks less than the latest vertical range and when you look at what it can do, it’s the most versatile of the lot.

If you wanna be making “green juices” then a low speed juicer like this one is gonna be your friend. Reason why is coz masticating juicers get a great juice yield. You’re definitely gonna do a lot better at making green juices if you use this juicer than an even more expensive centrifugal juicer like the Breville 800JEXL. This type of machine is built for speed but getting the liquid from leafy greens is all about a chewing and crushing action – this is the way that masticating juicers do it!

Omega J8006 Parts

Four sections of Omega J8006 masticating juicerMasticating juicers aren’t all that quick when they go up against centrifugal machines. Just take a look at the main sections and you’ll see why. There are four main parts. Clockwise from the top, they’re the juicing screen, auger, drum and the end cap.

The auger only spins at 80 RPM. Compared to even budget centrifugal juicers like the Breville BJE200XL, this is about 15 times slower. Do you think you can juice fast with a machine like this? The answer is no.

To begin with, the opening into the drum is real narrow, only 1.5″ across. You know what this means, right? Sure, you’re gonna have to chop up your fruits and veggies real thin. That’s the first thing.

Next, you’ve got the slow speed of the machine itself. This means it’s just gonna take longer for the machine to deal with the fruits and veggies you put in. But there are some real benefits too. Yeah, with this juicer, you sacrifice a bit of speed but what you get in return is more juice coming out the things you put in. This might not be true for everything you wanna juice, I mean, centrifugal juicers are good with apples, carrots and other things that are pretty hard.

But when it comes to soft, leafy veggies, masticating juicers really do get the most juice. I found this video on Youtube comparing this juicer with a Breville Juice Fountain Elite. Remember, the Omega juicer is the cheaper of the two! When you watch the video, notice how the feeder hole for the Omega is much narrower than the Breville.
