The Sailor Moon RPG is an interesting mix of detective work and fighting. I have the Fan Translated version, but until recently, didn't have the motivation to play it. That changed when I got the idea for Series 2 of the comic and figured I would start getting sprites for it. I originally said "it's pretty fun" and I would like to restate that. It's REALLY VERY AWESOMELY GREAT. The people making this game really created an interesting story that really fits into the sailor moon world. And I have to give major credits to those who made the translation possible. They did a spectacular job, the only complaint I have is the swearing. I don't think 15 year old girls would really talk like truckers, but oh well.
I would have to say, if you have an interest in RPGs, and sailor moon, and don't mind running a game in an emulator (unless you have a rare game copier for the SNES that could read and play this game), play the game, please. I've given it some thought, and as fan subbed shows are legal to distribute as long as money is not made, why not games? So, for your enjoyment, you can download the SNES game here.
Here's a brief into to the game, and why it's so great.

Luna senses something bad going on in the neighborhood, so you go looking for the cause. Oh, and one side note. Isn't it amazing how the eye and brain work? If you really look at this picture, the characters have no shadows. In fact, they almost look like they are laying down, but we accept that as just peachy.

Along the way you meet up with the various characters in the game

And what game would be complete without nagging from Lnua?

All the traditional elements of an RPG are there, like fights

and getting items for fighting.

However, the real fun is being able to play as any scout!

It's pretty weird though, how some scouts can be so strong as others are so weak. Here's some shots of the battle between the 4 sisters. (I can't say much more without spoilers)

As you can see, that attack was worthless. Especially when you compare it to Saturn's damage-

Of course, while Saturn does impressive damage against multiple attackers, she can't really match "insane venus" who does this kind of damage.

How does this insane damage come about? Accessories, of course! Here we see Saturn's attack go up from a respectable 57 to a more insane 76. Not to mention the speed increase!

The best part has to be the dialog. Here, Artemis doesn't want to do something, but the scouts won't be denied.

Of course, there is such a thing as going too far. Maybe this should have been made into something vaguely more American?

This is a really neat game. You get to play as your favorite scounts, visit the past, fight enemies from the show, use the scouts special attacks, do insane damage, I can't say enough! Oh, and other thing, the voices! I don't know how they did it (well, ok, I do, a really low sample rate) but they have all the scouts actually saying their attacks before they do them, just like on the show! And in only a 4 meg cartridge! It's really too bad this game will never get past this point, that is, coming out for a more modern system, in english to start. Also, you have to know the japanese show pretty well, as they call things what they really are. None of this "silver crystal" stuff. Oh well, at least we get to play it via emulation!
