« Have I mentioned late… | Home | Saturday was better »

Very poor day today

23 10 09 - 21:43 Everything I touched seemed to wither

So my early morning one moved to saturday and we said forget it on the potluck stuff so I didn't have to go shopping. And thank goodness because I *really* wouldn't have made it through the day if I needed to do that stuff.

I went to go get the printer, which was fine. It was a choice between a $70 inkjet and a $100 laser, I chose the laser as it's a business setting and they need the reliability/cost per page of laser. And they only need black. But I couldn't get it to actually work. It would print the test page, but then go offline. Then there's this other printer that's not working, but I can't do anything to this one because of the drive lock stuff.

Then there's this machine upstairs on the 9th floor, a Wink2 machine (did I mention that Windows 7 just came out? That makes this machine 4 generations old. Great) It's all choked up with dust, so I pull the heatsink out and clean it, put it back together, and guess what, it's hanging on boot. Great. So now he's all frustrated (at me) and I'm frustrated because I've been there for like 3 hours, I'm going to be late for my 2:00 and I can't get over to durable. So he says it's okay to take the machine, so I pile two machines and two printers in my front seat and get to my 2:00 a half hour late.

And I'm there for three hours. Luckily it's just me teaching her (extremely obvious things) but I get stuck making her scanner work. Some crappy error message, though it printed fine (all in one) so I had to fall back on the old "scan via the website" trick, which at least HP does make available.

So I didn't get to go to my grandmother's, didn't get to get a haircut, was half a hour late to the get online for the World Hopping game, ate dinner quick.

But at least when I got everything pulled out of the car and set up here, the win2k machine I did get to boot again, thank goodness. Got the other machine wiped out and reloaded. Both printers worked fine, so who knows what was going on. Got that done while gaming, so at least the day ended a bit better.

Not sure if I'll have time to get over there to get the stuff back to them tomorrow. I have to be to RIT by 1:00 for shadowrun/fantasy game. I have one other appointment in the morning, then over to york, then RIT. We'll have to see!

Still gaming, so I'm back to it.
