Creeping Towards November

28 10 09 - 21:36 or should I say rowing?

So my 9:30 went well, it was a system that wouldn't get past the bios screen. The heatsink was of course choked up with dust, but cleaning it didn't solve the problem. Just on a hunch I removed the PCI card (a modem) and one of the RAM chips, and it booted. Put the ram chip back, still booted. Put the modem back and it still booted. But said it "found new hardware". What? uhm, no. So it didn't recognize the modem anymore but who cares? So that only took me a half hour, thank goodness, because I thought I was going to have to pass the dental place, go to my 11:00, then head back there.

But as it only took a half hour, I managed to get to the dental place early, set up his printers there, and scoot along to the 11:00 only a few minutes late. Score!

Which was... to type a number into a box. No really. He couldn't handle typing the serial number for his anti-virus subscription into the right box. How does this man tie his shoes in the morning?

Then home, ate lunch, back out to my 1:30. Needed more RAM. Shoot, and I only have 128 chips. What's with all the low memory systems lately? Guess I should start ordering that stuff in bulk. But I gave him that, and did what I could, with a promise to get him more RAM later.

Then to my 4:00, which I thought was going to be two, but was only one. She was named Amy, my favorite name, and she was running the abomination called McAfee and wondering why her machine was so slow. So I straightened it out as well, and talked of MacBooks.

Ate dinner at a reasonable time, read a little bit, finally got a comic penciled for this week, made phone calls, all the normal stuff.

Good amount of work for tomorrow, though there is a hole between 2:00 and 5:00. Whatever shall I do?

#7 finally mailed me back, but didn't really answer any of the questions I had sent with my first message. After all, she contacted me, don't you think she would want to answer my questions and ask some of her own? I know I would.

Don't ask me how, but I found Squeaker this morning up in the ceiling over my breezeway. He was crying to get down when I went out to the car. I had to go get the ladder and then drag him down from there, he did not want to go down with me. Silly kitty!
