And eight again today

21 07 09 - 19:06 Where do they come from? So my car is falling apart. No, literally, I drove off a job and heard this scraping sound I hadn't heard before. So I stopped, and there's this piece of my car hanging down!

Car Piece

Looks like it protects some lines running under the car, probably some kind of fluid lines. So how was your day?

The first one I messed up a bit. A guy's USB port died, and being a laptop he then only had one to use. So I brought over a hub, but what I plugged into it was running really slow. Turned out I accidently bought a USB 1.1 hub. I was like, What? Why do they even SELL USB 1 stuff any more? USB 2 started in, what, 2001? Earlier? Honestly, I didn't even pay any attention because here was me, thinking an eight old technology was gone bye-bye by now. So now I have to go back, exchange it for something he can actually use (yeah, 12 Mbit/s be still my heart) and go back there friday morning. Just what I didn't need.

Two cleanouts after that, nothing too difficult. Got some old data moved from a machine that wasn't working transfered to a new machine. Took delivery of the correct compact flash adapter so I can maybe get that old mac loaded up. Had to hunt around for my system 8 disk, I had put it away thinking I wouldn't need it anymore. Ah, system 8, how we once called you Copland and thought you would revolutionize the Mac. It wasn't until Steve came back from Next that it actually happened though. It would have been so sweet, it really would have. I think buying openStep was the right thing to do, us Mac people use UNIX every day and don't even think about it.

Well, I do, because I'm a total geek, but you don't because you're what we call a "normal person". As if.

Even managed to get a comic penciled. Got another movie digitized, and it's being transcoded to DVD now. Only three more to go. Though I do have a stack of my own to still get through. They don't go to DVD though, I save them as just mp4 movies. Having your computer hooked up to a projector has its advantages. Yup, it helps me get the ladies.

Sorry, dozed off a second there. Where was I?

Oh yeah, eight phone calls. I love how people call me the next day when I don't reach them the day before. Like I'm going to forget them a day later. I even say in my message to them "I'll try you back tomorrow." So it's really only 4. One is my good, good, good friend Ellen wanting to change the appointment day, two are one guy calling me again from yesterday, the second time to leave his cell number, and the forth, again from yesterday. Honest, I will get back to you people.

Worked for a lady with a baby, the last time I was there she was a newborn, now she's walking and almost one! Wow. The baby was the newborn, not the lady I worked for. Didn't want any confusion there. Amazing to look at someone and be like "that kid was just born last time I was here, how can she be walking already?" Soon she'll be talking. Once she's talking she'll demand a cell phone, and then it'll be all over.

Of course, she won't be able to "text" until she learns to read, so what, age three?

Well, looking forward to my two hours of phone calls tonight. Yippee.

Current Mood: Look out, Ladies!
