Hate getting stood up
23 07 09 - 22:44 Don't you? I knew you did. And the running around was as glorious as I imagined it would be. Full of light, and color, and rain, and mugginess and 65 degree weather when it should be in the 80s at least. But enough about things I can't change, this blog is about things I can't change. The past. And that's what happened to me before. Before what? Before now.Regular stuff in the morning. Cleanout and a crappy 600Mhz PC running Win98. Fantastic machine. Poetry in motion. As it sat there, like a lump, hard drive grinding away trying to do the simplest of tasks, like, I don't know, recognize my flash drive. Yes, Win98 had no mass storage support, so it doesn't natively recognize flash drive. Mac OS 8.6 did, but not the so called "advanced" Win98. So I spent just an hour trying to copy ONE INSTALLER off my flash drive to this piece of crap. Finally I had to leave so told them I would take it home and work on it some more. I put 256 MB more memory in (it had a whopping 128) and put win2k on there. Well, I tried, it's been installing for like the past three hours. Great machine. Just great. Hopefully the upgrade will solve their problem of odd error messages and my frustration of not being able to do anything with the machine because it's a piece of crap. It's still crap, but at least it's 2 year newer crap now.
Then driving back near my place for the Mac guy. Who wasn't there. Glad I rushed over. Waited about 20 minutes (as I was a little early) but no show. Great. Came home, no message that he wasn't going to be there I might have received if he had called me the night before. Nothing. So I waited around, I did something. What was it? Something worthwhile, I know that. Not a comic, I colored that tonight. Okay, maybe it wasn't so worthwhile.
And back out again. What was a two machine cleanout became a four machine cleanout. Get some Macs, would you? Still, two hours for four machines? That's got to be some kind of record. Got home with just enough time to eat something before calling land time.
Wrapped my grandmother's present for tomorrow. Made lunch for tomorrow. Wrote directions for tomorrow. Because even though one lives only in the present, one must ever prepare for the future, lest it too soon become the regrets of the past. (4 total, back to Mac Guy again, let's hope he's there this time). Luckily they are grouped together a bit more, so not nearly as much driving tomorrow. Got one more video digitized, only one left thank you, and it's transcoding now.
Looking forward to saturday as I'm going over to Sean's for "Shaun of the Dead", Shadowrun, which is fine, I guess, and perhaps more talking about fantasy races for the magic setting in the options guide. Very hush-hush, you didn't hear it from me.
Current Mood: hush hush, eye to eye
