It's only a 2% increase.
28 07 09 - 23:19 You'll hardly feel it at all, right? So my electric bill is going up my 2%. I guess it would be more accurate to say my Energy Consumption bill is going up 2%, not just the electric part. I am told it will "fund energy efficiency programs to meet state energy use reduction targets... and conduct energy research." So the state is taking my money to fund programs to study ways to allow the utility companies to take less of my money. There's something amiss there, but I can't put my finger on it. I already pay, what, $7.50 a month extra for the "catch the wind" program, even though energy generated by wind is free once the cost of the turbine has been paid off.So I admit to being baffled. We already know how use energy efficiently. We need conduct no more research. We have: Solar, Wind, Tides, Geothermal, we can even make electricity via the mixing of salt and fresh water for goodness sake. We can switch to devices that use less power, or do more work for the same amount of energy. The amount of energy lost into space by our sun in the time it took to type this entry could probably power the earth as long as we needed. But nooooo, gonna take another 2% for "energy research". Let's see what kind of energy is generated by my kicking you in the butt.
But enough with the hating, let's move on to the hating! My second one canceled right before I left for my second one which had become my third one because of the unscheduled first one I went to. It was zone alarm lady, she didn't have a phone near her computer so I had to go over there to take care of it. You know, I see a whole box of cordless phones at the ABC sale every year, for like a buck each, maybe I should pick a few up, for those poor, unfortunate souls who can't afford a $20 cordless phone.
So then I went to the guy just down the street on Bay Road. Oddly he had just bought an iPod touch but didn't get the 3.0 software, so I upgraded him. His actual problem was his email was messing up, I got that straight.
Came home, lunch, picked more berries, maybe the last as they are getting kind of yucky now, but enough for a pie I hope, did some penciling of a comic page, a little bit of it inked, and off to my good, good friend Ellen. Always a blast to go over there. You know how sparrows kind of hop around? That's her personality.
Came home, worked on a laptop that got dropped off. She said she had taken it into staples to have it reloaded, but I'm not sure I buy it. For one it was running a pirated version of XP pro and a 2003 version of Norton Corporate Edition. The hard drive had been cut into two pieces, the C: drive was only 20GB while the D: drive, which seemed to have a version of DOS? on it, was weighing in at 50GB. If that was really done by staples, I gotta start charging more, like, triple, because if that's the standard I should compare myself to, I'm the greatest computer repair man on EARTH baby!
Anyway, reloaded it to the XP Home she was supposed to have, loaded it up with firefox, picasa, openoffice, avast!, ccleaner, spybot, an ubuntu boot for troubleshooting purposes, you know, the normal. Oh yeah, iTunes. Can't forget iTunes.
Got a couple more VHS tapes of mine done, the stack that's left is going down! Watched part of part 1 of that really old 1998 special Merlin. Not having a TV made me forget how annoying commercials are. But to add insult to injury, I'm sitting here watching commercials for things like cars.... from 1998. Yeah, those styles excite me now! *snip*.
Can't help but wonder how Mizzy came out. Oh well, she and her husband are off on their journey across the country now, Just as I am off on my journey ever forward, into the future. The journey of life.
Current mood: Gonna live life! Like it was MEANT to be LIVED! Time to go to bed. Gonna be so good, gonna dream so much!
