Another Thing I Hate!
13 09 09 - 20:04 Allergies!Yup, hate um. And most of the time they are mild. Not mild enough to be ignored, but enough to know, "I have allergies". Only rarely do I get the watery, irritated eyes, thank goodness. But today I was blowing my nose left and right. It's almost fall, what am I reacting to now?
Now, I'm not a "meds" kind of guy. Luckily I am fairly healthy and rarely ever do I get so much as a headache. When I do, I know it's for a specific reason and I work through the reason. Or I go meditate for awhile. Never have I reached for a pill. Same with allergies, they have to be pretty bad to get me to take notice and say "enough is enough". So I took some allergy medication and, of course, no result. Ugh. What is the point of taking something if that something isn't going to help with the problem? So I did what I should have done in the first place. Put my air filter painters mask on. Twenty minutes later, no more allergy attack. I feel kinda dumb sitting around my house with this mask on, but it works, so who cares. The cats? Not likely.
Elsewise today I finally got around to making Sushi for the first time. Not bad for a first effort, let me say. Played more Last Remnant, then remembered, oh shoot, Sean gave me some DVDs I should have been watching/ripping them. So I did some other things.
Saturday I did my two jobs from before and went over to Sean's. Both went smoothly, reloads usually do, but you never know with PC hardware. 2003 PC hardware at that. One snag there was the video driver. She was trying to get the full resolution from her monitor, of course, but the video card was falling short by maybe a hundred pixels and forty pixels per side. Weird. So I go to the dell website, get the "latest" driver from 2003 and install it. Reboot, and now I'm stuck on 640x480 4bit color! Guwa? Could not get it to change. So I had to roll the driver back to the XP default one and she'll just have to live with it being stretched a bit.
Also signed up for facebook on kind of a lark. I sometimes search for new pictures of people I used to know and found this one picture on facebook. So I said, Ah Ha! Yes! and remembered Sean talking about it and said, "Ah, what the hey, I've got nothing better to do in the next five minutes" and signed up. It was kinda spooky. It asked as part of the setup procedure "do you know these people" and more then half I DID. Like Sean, Mizzy, Alissa, and a bunch of customers. I was like, "HOW DID YOU KNOW THIS?" It read my mind, man. One interesting feature is the tagging they do, by that I mean I put in Penfield High School and my class and it retuned this four page list of people. Many of whom where holding babies, or had little kids in the picture. Like 4-5 year olds. Huh.
Then to the Demon Gate High game rather then the World Hopping, which make no difference to me anyway. Which went pretty well, kinda. We got some very interesting plans made, plot was hashed out a bit more (should that be filled out?) rather enjoyable. And Neil was back! He's thinking of moving back here. I may have mentioned that? The kinda bit is that I'm a bit more powerful when I "let the demon out" then I thought, and she just went and tried to kill the two people I told "Get ready to restrain me if I go to attack you" rather then, I don't know, just threaten them or something. I only went and got the most powerful person I know, or so I thought, but rather then do what I said "restrain me" (though to her credit she did try, once). But still, they're getting killed here! It took all my cards to save them. I think Sean was throwing energy into everything, like, do you WANT me to get these two people killed? Show a little restraint, man! I mean, Naga aren't mindless. They do things for profit, like Ferengi. Where was the profit in trying to kill my friends? We'll have to have a little talk. Me and the Naga, I mean, not me and Sean. Because that story is over. And like the money said, it was in the past, so it doesn't matter!
AND I have no work for tomorrow. The one call didn't answer her cell phone, the other has "his buddy's" system and he's trying to at least get the data off the HD because the machine seems to be dead. Win2k machine. Yeah, it's only nine years old. Anyway, maybe I'll get a call back? Or call her tomorrow after the shopping? But of course I'm going to have soooo many calls tomorrow. Oh yeah, you just wait. You'll see.
Strange how something like my roof "oh it's twenty years old" would elicit a response of "Plenty of life left there" but a computer more then a couple of years old? Total scorn and rejection. Shouldn't surprise me, things last different times. All part 'o life.
One bit of small good news, I finally got the little card brought into my insurance company and by raising my deductible I think she called it, I save even more. But what was really surprising is they applied it backwards and actually sent me a REFUND CHECK. Out of the blue. Just, "here's seventy bucks". I was shocked, SHOCKed I tell you, and not just because I accidentally stepped on Pikachu's tail which caused him to shock me, making me jump into my Voltorb collection and then stagger into my Electabuzz who came in to see what was going on. I need every penny I can get, now.
Meanwhile! back to reality, if such a thing can be said to exist...
Yeah, I got nothing.
