They survived the night
24 09 09 - 22:09 All my parent's animals, that is.So I walked a pup and went over to my parent's house to feed their eighteen cats. I kid, it's only sixteen. Or maybe half that number. Anyway, it's a lot. Everyone doing fine. Next was trying to get things done so I had less to do saturday. Took that RAM over to the guy down the street, but he was not there. (Called him tonight, he'll be there saturday morning, so I'll stop in after the routine) Went over to see someone by my grandmother that had called last night at 10:30 or so, but she wasn't there either. Sigh. At least the hotel was there. Got their new optical drive installed.
Came home, called up the other person I had RAM for, she was there, luckily, so I drove half an hour there and another back. Called another person but no answer. Looked at that TV I got, didn't seem to have a volume problem? Maybe it sounded a little different after awhile, I couldn't be sure. Daytime television- ouch. I feel dumber already.
Lady called me she was home. I would have had 45 minutes after getting there to take care of the issue. I decided to chance it, turned out it was my old favorite "unmountable boot volume". I told them it could be the easiest fix in the world or catastrophic. Luckily, it was the former, and I was out of there after a chkdsk x2 and making sure it was booting fine. It was. Whew!
So I had half an hour to waste, but my 4:00 was right down the street from my parent's! So I went over there, backed up my father's machine and looked into more cool things to do with geektool, and then went over there.
Oddly, the first optical drive I tried hooking up to his netbook wasn't recognized. Is it busted? Hope not. Found a windows 98 SE disk in the second drive I tried, wonder where THAT came from? The drive worked though, so my fear of it being my adapter no longer working was unfounded. So we got through all of his issues no problem.
Came home, dinner, walked the pup again. Wrote a rather lengthy email to my facebook friend, implemented some of those geektool things I found, made a couple of phone calls, and here we are.
Tomorrow there's a bit of running around planned for the afternoon. My first two are right near my parent's house, then I can come back here and take the dog out, but #3 is York to deliver the thin client unit I finally received, (neutral feedback there, two weeks to get it?) and that's out by RIT, where I have to go back to saturday for the game. Does that come off as too whiny? Maybe "where I am going back to saturday" would be better. I wouldn't want there to be a negative connotation there. Then back to Durable to hopefully get this VPN thing hashed out once and for all. I got it to connect from home but my IP address didn't change. I was running in a VM, maybe that had something to do with it. Not sure.
Then gaming! Hopefully all goes well, though I've spaced everything out, and the two afternoon ones I'm just going over there when I get there, so it shouldn't be too bad.
